The mother says the baby is not yours. You believe her and walk away. 11 years later you search for a picture on facebook of the kid. You find one and think he looks like you. What would you do? Has this ever happened to you? What did you do about it? Did you have to pay child support?

You can sue her actually. And I would be tempted to do so. It is a crime to lie on a birth certificate, which she obviously did.

She has robbed you and the child of one of the MOST important relationships either of you will ever have in life.

No, you will not have to pay back child support. If you file for paternity, you may end up paying. BUT, I would tell the judge everything she has done. She is going to fare far worse than you. This idiot should be ashamed of herself.

I seriously hate women like this. And wonder how they would react if someone stole their child simply bc they didn't think they should have said child.

I am not a man, and I don't know anybody this has happened too. Well, my ex husbands brother fathered a child and then she left him and the last he heard from her is when she wanted him to sign over his parental rights so she could give the baby up for adoption, and he wouldn't do it, and then she said that he wasn't the father and she didn't know who the father is and we haven't heard from her since and he has never seen the child and that was 9 years ago.

But alot of kids look alike even if they aren't related, even though the child might look like you doesn't mean that you are the father, maybe she slept with someone that looks similar to you, and if she says the child isn't yours and she isn't asking for child support then I wouldn't worry about it.

My uncle started dating a woman who thought he looked a lot like her nephew. Turns out a one night stand with the sister 15 years before had resulted in this child. Even though she had her doubts, she.claimed it as her on again off again boyfriend's. In the state they lived, child support was retroactive to the date of birth. My uncle was thrilled to get to know his son. Not so thrilled with the support payments.

Request a DNA test
You will need to talk with the Attorney General about child support and other business.
First things first though... Get that test

Yes, and worse, you could be ordered to pay retroactive child support.

For 22 years, I have volunteered my time working with divorced/single fathers dealing in family law issues, such as child support, teaching them about what the states are not telling support obligors.
