My girlfriend lives with her older, overprotective brother. He is so overprotective to the point where he forbids her to go out anywhere, to own a phone or iTouch, or use Facebook. So because of this, I have no contact with her outside of school, and I really want to change that. But if I try and talk to him, it will only make things worse. What should I do?

Why will it make things worse?

Tell him you're interested in his sister, and that you have, and will continue to treat her kindly and with respect.
Talking with him respectfully and honorably, in a mature manner, should not cause any problems.

You're other option is to wait until she's 18, at that point it become HER choice. (legally an adult).

Suggest you speak with him, if you "demand" anything, you're right, it will get a lot worse, if you're respectful, and explain your position and interest, you may have a shot.
