She said no, you can't convince her.

"All your friends have one" is not a reason.

Just make one under a false name and don't add any mutual friends of your mom. Smile

tell her you need help with your homework, and it's very easy and efficient for your friends to help you online

by the way, what grade are you in? Because if you're not in high school you shouldn't have one anyway

Well how old are you? if you are 14 or over then i think a facebook account is perfectly fine. If you are that age then 'because i said so' is not a very good thing to say, it is your mothers right to put down and enforce rules, but some should be let go when you get to certain ages.
I suggest if you are old enough, just tell her that you are mature enough to have one, and you won't be silly and add people you don't know, or put up personal information.

I think more effective parenting is to explain why, so that you learn to reason for yourself in future situations.
That said I also believe parents have the ultimate authority and you need to accept that.

Facebook was not designed for children and most adults are too immature to use it as well. Every thing you post on the internet can be seen forever- by anyone who knows how to search. What young people fail to understand is that because you can do something and because all your friends are doing something doesn't mean you should or that you are emotionally mature enough to do so.

FYI- every teenager I know that uses facebook does so inappropriately. The make friends with people they don't know, they use foul language, they gossip and they are entirely too sexual.

Avoid the drama and respect your mother.
