Creating a facebook event for a surprise party?

I'm planning a surprise birthday for my mother in law and would like to invite her fb friends (I'm not friends with them) to the event I create, but don't want her to see it, is that possible?

if your husband has any of them as friends? If he does. just make a Private event and then invite them.
if not, then send them a message with a link to an event and just "block" yor mother in law from the event post.
