Are yahoo answers completely anonymous?
As in, there is no way of someone contacting me through my asking a question?

Yes, they are and as long as you don't allow e-mails, no one can contact you.

Yes, the only way people can contact you on here is through email or IM, if you have those options enabled.

Yahoo Answers users are completely anonymous, even if they allow e-mail contact by other users in their profiles, which you do not - unless you link the answers/questions to Yahoo (everyone, Connections), Facebook or Twitter.
Allowing others to contact you via e-mail is still completely anonymous! Do NOT Allow IM, since it shows your e-mail address! Mail comes from Yahoo itself with a Subject: "You have received mail from another user". The mail has a link to reply or open the profile to identify the user - totally anonymous and safe. This helps answer givers add more or help with added details for your questions if needed. Click your profile Edit My Preferences, then Privacy & Communications, then 'The Answers Community can contact me: ^ Via Email (Your address will remain private) You can also change your profile name for Answers to an alias to make your activity more private, although your name is very common. Open your profile by clicking on your avatar or the 'My Activity' tab at the top of this page, click 'Edit My Preferences', go to 'Change name', click 'Use a nickname just for Answers', type your choice in the box, and click 'Submit'.
