How to stop facebook sending me notifications that I do not want ?

When I log in my facebook account I get too many notifications that I do not want. For instance if one of my friends shares a link or adds a new photo I get notified. I would like to disable all notifications. What is the best way to disable all notifications?

click the arrow thing on the side of it then click "hide all"

Ok this is what you do. On top of the screen to your right there is a home button their. Next to it is the the arrow down click on that and go to where it said account settings. Than at the left their is going to be option that say General, Security go down to Notifications and their you go. Their is the edit button for you to edit everything your notifications.
