I have a question for mothers of children with Down Syndrome?
There is a Facebook Group called,

"People for the Humane dectectin and abortion of Down Syndrome fetuses"

Do you find anything insulting about this Facebook Group?

(should we treat all fetuses equal with it comes to abortion and not single a certain fetus out?)
What about,

"People for the detection and human abortion of blind fetuses?"

I have know children with Down's for some time. What I can say in defense to this Facebook Group is that there are degrees. Some are born more on the mild side, and live uncomplicated lives as happy, fairly healthy children. Some are so severe that they rarely survive for long outside the womb. The children I know are obviously more on the mild side, but my mother works as a NICU nurse and it is heartbreaking to her when parents were either unaware of their child's condition or too far along to abort and must watch their child die at the hospital. While I don't advocate abortion, I am a pro-choice person and if an individual or couple don't believe that they are capable of handling the difficulties that come with a child with disabilities, they should be allowed the choice to terminate their pregnancy. If they decide to join a group based on that choice, so be it.
