how do I change Facebook notification settings?

When I add a friend on facebook , I do not want their friends to be notified that I added them. How can I change this? I also don't want my friends to be notified when I change my status!

i think that it will say that you added them unless both of you delete the post that says you are now friends.
also, i'm pretty sure the point of facebook is for your friends to see your status updates. if you don't want them to see the change, you just have to delete the post after you change your status. there isn't a way to turn off that setting or whatever

As long as you see it on your friend's page that for example "you and miss X are no friends" there is nothing you can do. If it comes on your page just delete it but it wont delete it from her page. If you your friends to see your statuses then you cant do anything about it unless u want to be the only one who sees you statuses then click on "only me" near the lock sign.

Click on "Account" and then, "Account Settings". Then, click "Notification" tab. Once you did that, edit the settings and save changes.
