his tax garnishments or his ex's child support/arrears or possible modifications? How do I avoid this?
@ george: long story short, we were planning on only doing a "commitment ceremony" b/c he is terrified of my home or income being subject to his past & current obligations. I would really like to be legally married, but share these hesitations. thx for the info!

Got yourself a dead beat dad there? Why on earth would you want to share your life with such a maggot? You need some counseling for your self esteem issues. I hope you realize that he will leave you all alone when he impregnates you too. His obligation is to his child and he refuses to make that right? It doesn't get much worse than that for character flaws.
