Just allow all of your friends know your on twitter. They'll follow you and you can gain followers from them.

you can post on various twitter sites that allow tags to show up to other people that twitter. I tweet about finances on a site and whenever I post about a particular company, anyone that follows that company see's that tweet. Some people will follow you from that.
