My father told me I can have a facebook when i turned 13 and im 8 months past that so I asked him and I said when can I have a facebook he said when I do and of course that means never! And when I ask him its always no he never lets me do anything and this is the other option for me to Connect with friends outside of school does anyone have tips or reasons of why this is and what I should say to him?

your dad knows whats best for you, but he is being unfair because I know alot of 13 and under kids that are on facebook, if you do use it though dont use it all the time, save time to be active like a regular 13 year should be.

well, you could tell him that its reallya christian type thing. like thats what facebook was really made for. its nothing like myspace or tweet. and if you have alot of friends that have one it could have him say yes. or let him look it over, there has to be family members of yours that has one. and there really isnt anything bad on facebook. and you can block people you dont want. its not a bad thing. try some of that. see if it works. hope it does Smile

i am a mum of a 13 year old boy and i didnt want him to have facebook either. but in the end we crompromised, i set up his account for him and i have the password, so i can go on a check what heis up to and check that he is safe.

your parents are just concerned like i am about my child. facebook is a very unsafe place.

make sure you have all your photos locked so only your friends can see them and you have a private account and a locked wall.

only add your actual friends not hundreds of people you dont know just to boost your friends up.

if you canprove you can be responsible with it im sure after a few month you parents will stop checking what your up to.

hope this helps

I agree with the last answer. Your father is protective but he should know what's best for a 13 year old girl. But sometimes people need to be social but like the last comment said, don't use it for a long time if you get to have one.

Your dad is doing the right thing. Facebook isn't all it's cracked up to be and is incredibly dangerous. I know you have to be careful anywhere on the internet, but Facebook is really bad. There are many other social networking sites you can go on that are better than Facebook. Also, there's better, safer ways for you and your friends to stay connected outside of school.

Seriously, as long as you don't add random people you don't know/put innapropriate pictures up of yourself there's not really much danger. Its just irresponsible people who don't know what their doing that get into trouble.
