How can I convince my mom to let me get a facebook?

My mom thinks that it is too dangerous and not private enough...I have told her about the new safety features and I dont want to make one behind her back yet.

I'd definitely outline the safety feature that allows you to decide who you want to see your page. You can make it so that passers-by can only see your picture, if that's what you want, and make your actual page visible to only your friends.

A lot of parents are really uptight about Facebook because of all the bad incidents that were associated with MySpace, so I would remind your mother that Facebook is a better social network and it has more protection on it, especially for minors. You can always block someone as well and they won't even be able to search for you when they're logged into Facebook themselves.
