If you close your web browser without logging off, how long does facebook say you're online?

Just wondering because I occasionally get someone complaining (in a joking manner) that I didn't answer their chat when I had closed the browser (without logging off) well before they sent me a message.

not sure, i think sometimes if, where u log in, underneath it should say KEEP ME LOGED IN, and theres a box u can tick or untick, make sure its unticked, or u will stay loged in even if u turn ur pc off, sometimes ive turned my laptop off , gone back on and when i type facebook i dont have to log in cos i auto log in, just make sure its unticked and when u do leave facebook, go on account and LOG OFF , then it will log u out, till u want to sign in again, problem solved
