Just discovered I'm related to a famous person. How do I get in contact without seeming like a stalker?

My mother is related to a very famous person which we discovered earlier this year. I have tracked down his sister on Facebook and want to let her know but how do I do so without sounding as though I'm a stalker. Do I tell her that I'm just curious because I feel lucky to have someone in the family who is famous? What do I say? I can prove with pictures if need be, and names too!

still try to contact them and then tell them that you a proof that you guys are related and email them the pics you are talking about

Well, id say just introduce your self and tell the truth. There is no way your going to come out of this 100% nonstalkerish, but if your really worried about it, id just leave it be and enjoy the fact that you are related to the person.

It would depend on how they are related...If it was distant I think it would be a little stalkerish if you are trying to get into contact with them just because they are famous. You should want to meet them not because they are famous but because they are related to you. Go about it casually, tell them you found out through your mom, say her name and explain, Do not send them pictures < trying too hard Say something like
"Hello, My name is _____ and I found out though my mom ______ that I am related to you, I am your through ________, and _______. I wanted to know how excited I am to have found this out. I also know that your brother is famous, I think that it is lucky to be related to someone famous. Anyway I am happy to have found you on Facebook, I would like to get to know about my moms side of the family, Thanks!
