What are some valid reasons to have a facebook?
My parents aren't to keen on the idea of facebook. My older brother has one. My parents know about it but they do not really approve. They haven't done anything about it, but my mom always says you won't get into college if they see your account and read or see something they don't like. Is facebook truly a big deal with colleges and gettin jobs? What are some mature valid reasons I can ask my parents for permission for one? Now that I am 16 I feel ready to have one.

Hey.

Personally I don't feel that there is any point of Facebook, yeah fair enough you can communicate with one and other, and meet new friends, but you can on omegle?

Msn is just the same you can comment on pictures just like you can on facebook, you can also create groups just like you can on facebook, you can play games together just like you can on facebook, although there's a wider selection of games on the facebook interface I still personally don't think it's worth it.

Skype you can communicate, and hold voice chats, and confrence calls at the end of the day there all the same.

I prefer skype, although i'll leave you to choose.

Good Luck.

You can keep in touch with friends even if they live far away and also a lot of people find it easier to talk to their friends on Facebook so you can become closer to your friends

See its a myth that facebook profiles can cause problems for getting into colleges and jobs. its nothing like that. the social and professional lives are kept separate by institutions and enterprises. facebook is just based on the idea for being in touch with your friends, even when they are in different continents. its like you go to a party, but your friend wasn't able to attend it. you clicked some pictures and uploaded them so that your friend can enjoy it although he/she missed it. so the bottom line is, its to keep your friends closer.

I have no valid reason for a FB account, maybe thats why I closed mine, all it does is get you into trouble, you not socialising with "real" people, face to face, a monitor has no personality. get out talk to people face to face read body language, continue the art of conversation. Cyber world can't teach you everything about life. 16 you still a child, well may be that is the father coming out in me. I have a daughter, 28 and I still think of her as my baby, but she has no Fb. Feeling ready to havea FB yosay that as though you expecting a baby? Nobody is is ready for Fb, you will change your mind, locked in your room, talking to a faceless monitor, grades dropping in college, no fantastic job opportunites but Maccas. I agree with your parents on this I am sorry. Your in tomuch of a rush to grow up, life is too short.
