Bebo http://www.bebo.com
On Bebo you can make your profile private. People can still add you as a friend, but they can only see your ID picture until you accept them as a friend. You just have to set the profile to "private" and then the only way for people to access it is to either (a) be accepted as a friend or (b) attend a school you sign up as a member of.

i've heard of facebook and bebo, but you can make all aspects of your myspace profile private (including ur profile, pics, videos, blogs, everything) you just have to set each individual part to private, can be done in account settings and when you put up pics, go to edit pics and check out your albums, there is an option to make them "friends only"

If your mom doesn't approve of myspace, why would she approve of anything else? Myspace lets you make it private. Idk why you'd try to find a different site that's like myspace if your mom doesn't like myspace in the first place.

Check 'em out! You can also make your profile private on Myspace by using settings >> privacy. Hope that your mother approves of one of these!
