I wouldn't say so,..as there are younger people that use it as well as older ones.

And my 12 year old little Cousin has Facebook but she altered her age when she filled out the form to make her older,..thus enabling her to use it!

The reason is because it was intended for university student.... as invented by a Harvard student that wanted to keep in touch with his past class mates and friends.. but there are no way anyone under that age can be prevented in entering the site.. so alot of people of any age joined. Also your brother prevented you because there are many adult images and such which he doesn't want you to see.. also meeting new strangers which you should avoid. My brother is 16 and i'm 21... i have more control over myself.. and he has less control as he is still young so i kept him away from any social networking sites till he is over 18.
Plus it made him score a perfect straight As in his GCSEs by not going on useless sites... lol
