My mother gave me a camera/video recorder for my birthday and it was two hundred dollars, anyway a seventeen year old girl stole it and won't give it back, she takes photos of herself and puts them on facebook and you can CLEARLY see she's using MY camera, it's a very unique different looking one. HELP!!! I want it back!!

Of course you can call the police and report a theft and expect them to track down your camera. Be sure to show them the evidence you've collected and give them her address. Having the receipt for the camera will go a long way to prove your case, the serial number even better but I doubt you wrote that down. Her whole family might lie to keep her out of trouble, or they might not and then you're good. If the police do nothing you can still file a civil suit, with the help of your parents, and perhaps a lawyer, to obtain justice legally. But if it were me, I'd drive over there and confront her and get my fucking camera back now.

Whatever your camera looks like, I assure you that tens of thousands of them were sold.

If you have actual evidence that she stole it, you report it to the police. Surely even a child knows that much?

You absolutely call the cops.

If your town is like mine, all divided up in to separate little cities with their own police departments, you call the one where she actually stole the camera., if that is different from where she lives or you live, they will work it out with the other agency.

Her being a minor has nothing to do with the fact that she broke the law. Might have an effect on how she is punished, but it is no less a crime.

You might also consider telling your mom. I mean, it sounds like you and this girl know each other. Perhaps you loaned her the camera and she is refusing to return it? because that is different from stealing it. The cops will explain all that when they respond to the call.
