I am passionate about the internet and its networking potential to attract a massive customer user base, and I was just wondering what would be a good way for a newly created website to attract a million members?

I mean, would you have to offer value of some kind, i.e. services, etc?

Of course you would. Why would anyone visit a website if it had nothing o offer?

1 million members is pretty ambitious, I would recommend setting lower milestones first. My advice to you is:

Create a product related to the website you're making (E-book's are the easiest).
Give the product away for free in return for their E-mail address.
Create another product related to the website you're making (Again, E-books are the easiest).
Give the product away to your subscriber in return for referring a friend to your website.

Rinse repeat, if your free product is good enough you'll get people in no time!

In today's social media rich environment it's easier than ever to pick your choice of blogging sites from YouTube, HubPages, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, and LinkedIn to list a few. These are just some sites where you can begin broadcasting your brand and capitalizing on a relatively unknown product, person, or service and turn it into an instant viral sensation. When you realize the potential at our fingertips and the simplicity by which you can unleash your own information into the digital world to begin branding your company, it is only a matter of time before people know who you are and what you do.
