How do i find my Father?

My mother and father separated before she could tell him she was pregnant with me, and there is incredibly limited information about him, how would i find him? is there some sort of private investigator i would need to hire or what, i've been trying for awhile now to find him. Could anyone help me?
All I know is his first name, and where he worked 19 years ago but no last name and i know his ethnicity.

if you know his full name and last time and maybe his mothers and fathers,then maybe you can.
how about a police station,and ask them to look him up? or call a show like dr.phill or maury. try looking for him online like on whitepages.com or look if he has a facebook and tell your mom to see his profile picture and tell you if its him or not.
