Why is facebook so complicated?

I sent an invite over 6 months ago to a distant relative. She never accepted my invite so I decided to cancel the invite but there is a problem. After attempting to cancel the invite several times, I always get a notice stating that I cannot connect to that profile which means this persons invitation still appears as a pending request on my friends list. That's not the only problem, her updates and published pictures also appear on my wall. Has anyone else had a similar problem? How do I solve this?

Tell her to accept or decline it.

Or hide her status updates.
