* http://avatars.yahoo.com * when you get to the page up in the top right, click on Preferences to choose "Male ~or~ Female".

At the top of the page on the tool bar you will have some selections, such as â–ºAppearance, Apparel, Extras, Background and Branded. Each category has sub categories... (Apparel, Extras and Background have many numbered pages to choose from). After you make your choice, click [Save Changes]. Then return to "My Activity" and click [Edit My Preferences]. Under the new avatar click use [My Yahoo Avatar], then scroll and click [Submit].

Note: If it doesn't show right away then give it a couple minutes.

If you have your profile set to private, your avatar will not show on Yahoo Answers. If your Pulse is hidden you can "unhide" it by clicking this link http://pulse.yahoo.com/ and change your settings.

go into your yahoo answers profile and next to the picture you have now will be a link that says you can edit your profile settings and then in there you can edit your profile image and them there will be an option to chose a picture from the computer or an avatar and if you haven't made an avatar yet then you can make one.

Click "My Activity" at top of page
Select "Edit My Preferences"
Click "Update photo or avatar"
Follow instructions to select your photo/avatar
Click "Submit" on bottom of original page when done
