How do I get off of Facebook without hurting myself?

You may want to try a weekly practice of not visiting Facebook (or using a Facebook app) for a full 24 hour period every week. I do that. It's not the end of the world if you miss and don't comment on one status update, you know? And people often use Facebook just once in a while; people won't wonder what has happened to you if you don't post something for a day.

After that, you'll see you don't *need* Facebook so much and don't have to spend so much time on it the rest of the week.

Or, if most of your important friends have Google+ Accounts, maybe you can try using that exclusively instead. If there's something you should know about, you'll see a notification badge on casual web browsing on Google or something and can see what's up without even visiting Google+.

Find a new hobby. Try stuff like reading, listening to music, drawing, or a sport. It really helps. Facebook is pretty pointless. To me, it is really retarded. The first reason is because all people talk about is cancer, christainity, sex, and haters. Then, there are 13 year olds talking about never finding love. Seriously, this is the truth. Admit it. People get thousands of likes posting a picture saying like this if you want this little girl's life saved, and the picture is too photoshopped. What are those people seriously thinking? A doctor is looking and saying just one more like to save this little girl. How retarded... People talk about haters. Like seriously. Everyone says I don't care about my haters. Well, then why do you have so many effin' statuses about your haters if you don't care. The love crap is really plain stupid. Facebook its self is just stupid too. It changes like every month to something new ,and what I knowced is that people complain, get use to it and end up shutting up. It's annoying and pointless. Just reduce your time slowly until you get to the point where you go on for like 5 mintunes and just stare wondering what the point is. One day, when you are a old grandma or grandpa, you will regret wasting so much time on Facebook. Just remember that.
