They don't believe it's a lie.

I was the first person in my family born in the US, the rest are Canadian. I've spent years in Canada and in the US so I'm in a good position to compare the two healthcare systems.

First off, the Canadian system has its problems - I admit that. But the problems facing the US system are far greater. In the end it comes down to cost. You can argue all you want about abstract ideals of small government, meanwhile people die because they can't receive treatment.

I think this is the most sensible analysis I have read when it comes to the US Health Care debate.

@pdooma

At which hospital were you treated.

I am from England, and have always received good levels of treatment on the NHS.

The NHS has a lot of very dedicated staff and some very good hospitals, especially the major teaching hospitals.

As for waiting times, there are minimum targets, such as the new 2 week target for seeing a Cancer Specialist.

The NHS has also gone through a period of rapid modernisation in recent years, with many hospitals rebuilt or extensively refurbished.

Then go enjoy...

You don't see Americans flocking to UK or Canada for health care, do you? In fact, the opposite is true. Get a clue.

Having experienced the UK's system first hand, I can tell you the hospital was dirty, the equipment was old, the wait time was long, the people waiting with me were dissatisfied. By the time I finally got in to see a doctor, he looked at me, told me the equipment they needed to diagnose what was wrong was broken, then he shook my hand, wished me luck and told me to have a nice day.

So, that's my personal story with the UK health system.

A neighbor of mine had to go to India for bypass surgery a couple of years ago. He couldn't get insurance to save his life. He's doing fine now- he's alive. US life expectancy is at # 19 last I heard. That's a disgrace when we have more than enough for false wars. Their lies are killing people.

Thank you for providing the link that will provide proof to the baseless lies being promulgated by the for-profit insurance companies and their lobbyist firms, who are the only entities that will egregiously benefit from the health care status quo.

It appears the original author, who used Hawking as a symbol for the party-of-no's message, evidently provided no sense of logic that the fact is the brilliant scientist has enjoyed Britain's national health care since the 1940's. The author should not have relied on Dr. Hawkings' mechanical device for speaking, which utilizes the Americanized version of English (not his native British accent).

Some of them are lying and some of them don't know any better and just repeat what they are told.
