When someone says thank you to you on twitter do you have to respond?

I dont even know these people, they send me direct messages telling me to listen to their music, which i do cause theres nothing else...then they say Thank You and some more stuff, do i have to respond.

No, you do not have to respond. If you've ever watched national TV anchors thanking each other back and forth until they run out of time and get cut off, you wonder WHY no one else seems to remember that the polite response is ""You're welcome." No response does not waste band-width on Twitter or YA.
