why some yahoo comments require facebook membership to reply?

if you try to reply to some yahoo articles like "Ron Paul's pointless Internet presidency" you get a 'comment using' list even if you're already logged in. If you click yahoo (or any other option), you see it go to facebook, open up a window then close it without doing anything. Has facebook hijacked Yahoo?

Facebook has developed a new "Comments Box" that other websites can use. Yahoo is starting to use this in the place of their regular comments section, which has been particularly buggy. Apparently the move was made to discourage spammers and trolls.
