How do I say that I'm relatively liberal on Facebook without offending my friends?
I live in Texas and I'm surrounded by conservative republicans. Even my parents and brother are conservative. I'm probably a 7 on a 1-10 scale, 1 being uber-conservative and 10 being as liberal as you can get (I'm pro gay rights, but anti abortion). How can I say this on my Facebook profile without offending people around me? Right now, it says "mostly conservative". Thanks.

It depends on where they are on that same scale

If they are say 4s, just come out and do it

If they are 1s or 2s, if you change your ideology they wont be any way to do it without offending them.

Conservatives are 'offended' by people who disagree with them?

My workplace is 80% Republican, and as a 'known' Democrat I've yet to sense this.

This is America buddy, be an American and say screw them. I would never hesitate to let my family and friends know my beliefs and most of the time they go against what I've been taught but I am an adult, I pay taxes, and I am entitled to my own beliefs.

If they get offended that you believe all people deserve the same equality...then they aren't real Americans.

They are your friends, so they like you for who you are. If they don't, well sod them.

I knew a girl from Nebraska in the same situation in Colorado, and she was thinking about joining a church, even though she was not religious in order to fit in. I found this very sad. You have to be yourself, otherwise what is the point of anything?

Just put that that is who you are. If they don't like it then so what. If they are offended then say you are offended by their views too and they should get over it.

If they are all # 1's I would say stay in the closet, because it will not be fun dealing with these people. A lot of people may say just come out with it. However, some individuals just don't understand how tough it is to be around people with whom you disagree especially if you have to be around them on a regular basis. As someone who shares very different views from my family, I understand how difficult it can be.
