Anyways, Facebook is a colossal waste of time for most people. Having all your pictures and personal info floating around isn't the greatest idea either.

Your mother will do whatever she wants... She is your mother.. I know this from dealing with my mom... Try giving her some respect and don't lose your cool. Compromise with her by explaining to her that everything is under your control and that you will not put any revealing personal info about yourself. Tell her that you are now becoming a young adult and need social stimulation to thrive. Ask her if she would rather you be out of the house at all hours in order to see what your friends are doing. (without being too cheeky) If all else fails, as rationalizing with parents who generally are too busy to think logically usually does, offer to take up a new chore or responsibility around the house. Sit down with your mother and review the safety information here. Once she is able to read the information officially presented from facebook, she will be able to make an educated decision about whether or not you should be allowed to use facebook or not. If this doesn't work... be honest with your friends and just tell them to text or call you. If they are your real friends, they will find ways to communicate with you. Just wait until you are your own adult and you can do all the things that your mother didn't want you to do (muahahaha). Simply always keep her opinion in the back of your head and make sure that you are doing the right thing.
