sociology help- media question?

Hello, need to do a short presentation on "new media" (internet, twitter, fb, bbm, etc) and was wondering if anyone knew any sociological perspectives or sociologist opinions on any of these; in relation to crime if possible

People who do things for popularity often get busted because of the new media wave that has hit us. You often hear on the news or radio that some dumbass teenager got caught doing a crime because they posted about it or posted a picture on facebook. Our privacy is limited, in the example i gave.. i'm glad. But in general i hate it.
