How do i get a Vietnamese birth certificate from Australia ? And how long would it take ?

If you have no more close relatives in Vietnam, you have to make a power of attorney in order to authorize someone in Vietnam to obtain your birth certificate for you. The power of attorney must be authenticated first by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and then legalized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia.

However, if your close relatives (father, mother or siblings) are still in Vietnam, they can obtain your birth certificate for you without a power of attorney. They have to show proof of relationship.
