It's the mom of a girl I had as a student last year. I'm hesitant. Opinions?

If it makes you uncomfortable then no. You don't have any obligation to her. If she asks anything simply ignore it. But if you want to make a new friend then sure, go for it

I'm a teacher too and don't find suitable to keep contact in such way with ex students (or their relatives) unless is absolutely and strictly for academic reasons. I don't even have a school related Facebook Account I'll pass
