I feel like my friend is threatening to do suicide for attention?

Every day, she tells me she's ugly and she wishes she never was born. I don't understand because she takes A LOT of pictures of herself and uploads them on facebook. I always tell her I'm there for her, but she STILL says "im gonna do suicide im so ugly, etc." Do you think she's doing this for attention?

it's hard to say, you know her better than anyone on yahoo. most girls like this are just looking for attention, but a decent bit of them do go overboard on occasion and actually do it. talk to your friend and find out the real deal here.

don't think so she should do other stuff then post pic on facebook if she want to die but maybe it's allways good if you look if something wird is happening with her you never know

Could be for attention or shes so down on herself that she says those things so someone can tell her other wise

If disbanding yourself from existence is equivocal to gaining attention, then yes, suicide is a completely reasonable option.

But seriously, get smarter friends.

She may be doing it for attention, but do YOU want to gamble on her life ? I would not.

Tell her that she needs help for her suicidal thoughts. Ask her if you can help her get it, and try to convince her to let you help. If worse comes to worse, you will have to go behind her back and tell some adult what she is threatening to do. It is better to lose her as a friend (until she comes to her senses), than lose her completely.

I was always taught, do not ignore anyone who says they are thinking suicide. Treat all threats as if they are real. It is better to err on the side of caution, than to lose a friend or relative to suicide.

If she won't cooperate, you must tell a parent or trusted adult.

I think you are right. Tell her she is beautiful except when she says things like that and that it make you feel really bad. If she is your friend she will learn to shut up. If she keeps it up you may need a new friend. If you decided this person really means it call 911 and let them deal with it. That way if she didn't mean it she is the one that will have to be embarrassed.
This is just an idea one of many. You need to decided what you need to do.
