I want to send a direct message to someone on Twitter?

how do I do this? I only want them to get the message and not people following me. I heard you put d their user name then your message so I did that but it just showed up on my page and I know its not supposed to Help.

You put @ before their name, that sends a message to them

Once you login on twitter there is a Direct Message link http://twitter.com/direct_messages and once u go there u can select a person to send a direct message to so only they can see it.
