Why are people so obsessed with myspace, facebook and twitter?

I'm 18, and I wasn't implying that i didn't know how to use technology. I wanted to simply know why people were OBSESSED with it, i mean they have to write on twitter there every move and cant actually socialise with the people around them (there friends) cause there too busy on social networking sites
P.S I love people who write "this is a stupid question" don't give me an answer then ignore it?

All social networking sites, allow people to have relative anonymity. It seems that its easier to have connections with people online, then to have to deal with them in person. It also allows for self expression as far as what you can do on the sites, like myspace. You can change your background and add different things to it like "glitter"

i like it because i found tons of my friends from high school and many dont live around me anymore so its hard to see each other face to face. its a great way to catch up with old friends!

People are obsessed with TECHNOLOGY It is part of the fast pace WORLD we live in today! It's just like wanting HIGH TECH phones with all the works. It's all about doing things quickly! Not sure how old you are but the home phone is slowly becoming extinct due to all the tech advances, now everyone wants to EMAIL you and not talk on the phone cause it's more convenient and takes less time!!! I have sites on all but twitter and they are a great resource to being in touch with everyone throughout the country by a stroke of a finger. CONVENIENCE comes to mind.
