how do i tweet someone on twitter?

i usually send tweets to the youtube beauty gurus asking them questions about stuff, but they never reply. idk if I'm going it correctly. this is how i do it. for example: @petrilude <my message here> am i supposed to direct message them?

Your doing it correctly. They are just not responding. But people tend not to answer DM's as fast as they do interactions | mentions.
