How do I persuade my parents to let me get a Facebook?

You should say that you want a Facebook and add supporting detail to why you want it. Come up with ideas that might be brought against you and think about ways that you can overcome them. You will be prepared when you ask your mother.

A bad idea , but a better idea would be to not peruade them but just get one. When your home alone or whatever, you can check it, or if yoiur not home alone, when your parents are asleep, you can check it. Or if your not allowed to go on the computer when they aren't awake, you can go on it when they are in the middle of a movie. Or something. If you do get one with out them knowing, you have to go on it and erase your history. By pushing ctrl+h ) and you delete your history, and it just works ) hope i helpd XD

My advice to you.

1. show your mom around facebook and there privacy policy and tell her what you can do to make sure other people cant see your stuff.

2. Also depending on your age you might have to let your mom occasionally see your facebook page to make sure you are not friends with people you don't know.

3. Tell her she can make one to and she can be your friend she just can't post anything there on your stuff,

Personally I think facebook is safer than Myspace but as a parent I would stillbe cautious if my son were very young. One thing I can suggest to you is to show your mom that you are responsible and also allow her to have your password and let her set up the privacy settings as well as give approval for all your contacts. This is what my sis did when her children were in their early teens an they wanted to be on Myspace. You could also encourage her to get her own page and make all your contacts her contacts as well. This may seem a little over the top but it is for your protection.

Make sure that your mother knows that Facebook is a website for keeping in touch with your friends in real life, not for making new friends online. Explain the difference between Facebook and MySpace.

To assure her that it's a safe site, you can suggest her to watch you as you create your Facebook account just so she can see it's not that bad.

Trust me. Facebook is a lot safer than many parents think.
