College can see your facebook?
So I have heard that colleges are able to view potential student's facebook profiles (even if they are privacy protected). Is this true?
Also, are they able to read my private facebook inboxes?
If I have pictures or posts on my facebook that may not be college friendly, by deactivating my facebook will colleges still be able to hack into it somehow?
sorry i'm a little paranoid.

Don't put up your last name. Easiest way to dodge being found out.

Yes. The things you put online are public and can be viewed by anyone. Always remember, the privacy settings only go so far. Simply put, if you don't want people to know it, don't post it online

Yes, colleges are able to look at your Facebook. They simply go to Google and type in your first and last name and they can find it there. But no they can't read any of your messages. Deactivating it won't take anything away, it will always be there somehow. Just make sure from now on not to have any other bad things on your Facebook colleges won't like.

Hope this helped!

Look at facebook. it is an http:// site. It isn't even an https:// site like twitter for example. Most likely if you are working for the government they will invade your social networking sites without you even knowing it! When you 'delete' something on facebook, it isn't really deleted at all. Just hidden. Whatever you put online can be sought after...even after deactivation!

private inboxes: only if they're in suspicion of school rules
nothing on the internet ever gets erased.
And if they're smart enough, yes.
