How can you sue someone for child support?
I haven't seen my dad since I was about 2 years old. He's never tried to contact me or anything. We're friends on Facebook, but even then, he doesn't talk to me. My mom hasn't gotten any help from him for 17 years. I'm 17 now, and I wanted to know if I could sue him for child support before I turn 18. Oh, and I'm not sure if my mom has talked to him about this before or not in the past. I just want to know how to. Thanks for any advice (:

Yes, intact it can be done after you are 18 as well . Regardless of age the money is owed to your mother. Simply file for a child support hearing. The will issue a subpoena. Then let the hearing take place

Only your mother can apply for a child support order. You have no standing with the court.

You may be assuming that your mother is telling the truth and you father does not want to contradict your assumptions.

Ok you might hear this a lot,but go see a lawyer. Many of them offer to speak to you for 30 minutes for free. This way you'll know if you could do it or not.Or you can look online and see if c/s is paid retroactively in YOUR state, and if so then you can get child support from birth based on what he makes now.In my state you can only get c/s for the time after you filed and not before,so it my state you could not do this. Some states also allow for kids to get c/s as long as they are in college,so again it might be possible.Just don't tell your dad this.Blindside him,so that he doesn't run.If you are able to file you'll need his address, phone number and full name.I'm really sorry your mom never filed.I hope she knew that child support has nothing to do with visitation.

And,as for me,my child's father is a deadbeat dad,so I filed. He's still a deadbeat dad,but c/s takes the money directly out of his check every month.I'm glad I filed for it.The person above is right.Your mother may have also lied and told you that she wasn't getting it when she really was. Some kids think that they should get the full check,so that can use it as spending money instead of letting their parents use it for food and things they really need. She may have also filed for it,but your dad might have just been dodging payments all these years, which means he has some arrears.
