Is there a way to close your facebook account without hurting anyone's feelings?

I don't like facebook anymore, too many people, too much info; is there any way close down the account and erase everything without hurting anyone's feelings, also I don't want to give the impression that I'm hiding from anything I just not having fun with all these poeple knowing where you at and what you are doing, and if you don't update it may seem like you just don't care about them... or whatever... I hate it.

just post a status update, "I am closing my account, Its nothing personal, I just do not like facebook" close the account

That is funny. I think I've canceled my myspace over three times and the times that I have, I've gotten hate mail by people. My email was teary.

Sure. just close it. Nobody cares. Facebook is totally last year.
