How do i make more friends and get people to like me?

I am quite shy and i get nervous when going up to someone i dont usually talk to and saying hi. I have a couple close friends but not many. I will often start the conversation on facebook with a variety of people. I act nice and take an interest in what they have to say. Though no one ever will start the ocnversation with me on facebook. I dont know what to do so people will take more of an interest in me.

Don't really do anything. Don't change yourself just to get peoples attention, just be yourself. They may not be the type that start conversations. I never start the conversations with my friends just because I don't know if they want to talk to me or not but I always love talking to them. Just be yourself. If they don't like you for who you are, then get better friends.
