Anyone know why my Facebook notifications have stopped showing on my home page?

I used to have a little display that told me how many new notifications I had on my facebook that day which was on my Home Page but now that does not come up anymore and I've no idea why. I have to go into Inbox and then select Notifications to view them now which is annoying.
It still displays updates and requests on my Home Page

Yep, they're now only showing them in the bottom right hand corner (next to the chat function) - there was a tiny little announcement about it when I logged in a few days ago then it dissapeared.
