Does anyone know is the Alissa Guernsey story is true?

I have read on facebook the story of Alissa Guernsey, a 15 month old from Indiana who was abused by her mothers cousin while in her care. The baby was murdered and the woman got out after only 77 days in 2011. I was in shock after reading it, but I can't seem to find any information about it that isn't from social media networks. Does anyone know if this story is true?

and there is at least one CNN report and other newspaper reports from the same geographical area.

I have tried to find a copy of the court proceedings but couldn't.
