Does it cost to use twitter from my cell phone?

I just set up a twitter account and I was wondering if it costs extra to do like updates through text messages. I have an unlimited texting plan so will i get charged extra when i send texts to twitter?
the verification message they sent me says standard message and data rates apply. Does this mean I will be charged for data even though im not on the internet?

For as far as i know it doesnt cost unless you have minutes.
When i says that it means that data rates MAY apply it means that your plan may charge, if you dont have the services...(free text)
But it doesnt cost to send updates, unless your phone(as i said before) has minutes, you have a certain type of plan, you have a prepaid phone, or you have no internet services.
