How do I send a Facebook message to a group of friends (a friends list I previously made)?
I created a separate group/list of friends of about 30 people from by overall friends list. I need to send that specific group a message on Facebook, but I don't see an option anywhere on the site to send out a mass message to a friends list. Is there any way I can do this or will I just have to type in the names of everyone on the list when I send the message?

Thanks.

This is how Facebook answers your question:

"To send a message to a friend list from your Inbox, select the "Compose" button and enter the name of your friend list into the "To" field. Since the maximum number of recipients is always 20, you will not be able to send a message to any friend list that contains over 20 people.

"When you send a message to a friend list, the message will show all the recipients' names, but the title of your Friend List will never be visible to other members of Facebook. "

However, this seems to no longer be working (although I've used it before) according to the forum cited below and answered by Stacy Belluardo Berry. I have pasted Stacy's instructions with some modifications:

1. Create a new Friends List - for example, call it "MY FRIENDS"
2. Create a new event by clicking on "Events" from your Home page ( you will have to name it something - and it's a good idea to make it private so no one gets confused seeing it on your profile (uncheck “Anyone can view…”)
3. Click on "Select Guests"
4. Click on the "Search by Name" drop-down menu and you will see the new friends list you just created ("MY FRIENDS")
5. Unfortunately, I don’t see a Select All, so you’ll have to click each box.
6. add a “Personal Message” and then "Save and Close" at the bottom
6. Alternately, you could type a message in “More Info” before or after selecting your friend list, or just wait until you create the event and then go to steps after 7.
7. Click Create Event button.
Alternate steps after 7 to send a message:
2.1. Alternately, if you're not at your event page, go to your Home page and click "Events" in left column.
2.2. Find your event and click on its title to get to the event page.
2.3. Click on "Message Guest" in upper right under "Profile."
2.4. Type in your subject, message and click the Send button.

HINT:

If you put the details of your 'message' in the "More Information" or "Personal Message" fields of the event it will only show up in the recipient's **email account** as a **link** -- no detail - in other words, they will only get the invite but won't know what it's about without clicking on the link, which may not help if they are reading email from their phone. When you send it again in steps 2.1 - 2.4, it will show up in **detail** in their email account. So if most of your FB friends check their email first, you may want to do steps 2.1 - 2.4 so they can get all the information by looking in their email without logging into FB. This second message gets sent to their FB "Other" message box under "Messages."

Hope this helps.
