How do i clear the facebook reminders on the top of my blackberry torch? and how do i receive emails?

after the notification has been read it will leave a number at the top of the screen and on other application there's the facebook symbol how do i clear this? also i have an email account set up but only received emails one day how do i set it up to receive hourly?

I had the same problem with my Torch. You need to go into the FB app (not the mobile site) and go to the second icon from the left at the top of the screen. If you scroll over it with the track pad and let it sit there for a second or two, it should say Notifications (N). Open that and there should be some things listed. Delete them and the icon goes away.
