I as a mother would not allow it but if that is her mother then I am not sure what you could do about it. Myspace is a place for older teenagers and adults..you can run into real creeps on there. Its dangerous. You or your husband should tell her about the pediphils that get on myspace, maybe if she is a good mother she will rethink herself.

She is way to young to be having a my space page. I thought the age had to be something like 13yrs or older? But I am not sure. I feel even at 13 that is still to young. I would let your step daughter just know that the rules in your home and as long as she is a minor and living under your roof she will live by the rules. Does your husband have anything to say about this matter? Get him on board and talk to the child's mother and try to set up some guide lines and boundaries that should apply to both places for the child. Remember you are the parents and she is the child.

At 10 it is not appropriate that is why the age limit is 15. Sounds like she is getting addicted and should not be on there but as the step mum it is sadly not up to you to make this decision. You can ban it in your house but not at her mums. Hopefully the mum wisens up to it and puts a stop to it especially as she is not going well at school

My daughter is 11 and she is not allowed to have one until she is at least 13 and her grades will have to be up at all times or she loses all pc rights.

You have to be 13 anyway. And at 13 she will have the block up as well!

watch dr. phil this week Smile
there is a girl that is 15 has a myspace page, met a guy and took off to be with him int he middle east. and now themom is fighting to get her back. he is abusive to her both physically and emotionally.
i think the mom must be ignorant to what myspace is about, to me i feel its a meat market for predators and pedophiles.
she should do some research.
i would be more comfortable with her having facebook then myspace.

as a mother i say no... if you watch that news program where they catch child predators and expose them ( i forget the name of the program ) most of the predators have my space pages and start their hunt from there... i say, this.... a child has no business with a web page about them at any age. they get plenty of exposure to new people and ideas from school and local programs. to allow them to search people out is leaving the door open for predators to contact them. if they want to share pictures and gossip with their friends, then they can do that via email..... i wanted to do a lot as a child that i had to wait till i was old enough to do it... i see this as nothing different....

I think its all relative. My daughters are 6 and 11 and I will be setting them up with private myspace pages this year for Christmas. Both my daughters are A students and will only be allowed to communicate with family and a few friends. I would say no if we were living in the states and she saw these people daily but we are in Romania and this is the best way for us to keep in touch with family and friends back home. They are also not allowed on the internet alone so anyting they see and do is the same as when they sit beside me updating our family page. As for your step daughter I would not allow it, not with those grades when she is in the same town as family and friends. I would consider speaking with your husband about this and not allowing her access to it at your house. maybe your husband can talk with his ex and maybe put a stop to this all together.
