How do I open an attachment to an email and print it?

I have been trying to open and print an attachment from an email ,it is a pdf, what ever that means,and no matter what I do to view it or print it,I get zilch!!!! When I try to open it nothing happens,the little boxes disappear,but again nothing else happens.

It is need not to say that boxes are much needed things for human in all over the world. Anytime I can open up twitter, the whole page is filled with words and no pictures and bunch of blanks and boxes.
