How do I restart the desktop computer from my laptop?

How do you restart a Desktop in another room that is in the same network as the laptop I have?

Desktop - Wired
Laptop - Wireless

My 12 year old sister is always on the computer on her facebook and oovoo late at night when my mom wants her to go to sleep. Mom told to me find a way to make her go to sleep. It seems like the only way is to turn that damn computer off.

So, how would i do that from my laptop in my room to the desktop on the same network?

Rig a remote "off" switch to the wall circuit where the desktop is plugged in. If you're lucky, you can run the wire right through the wall into the next room.

You don't even need your laptop.
