What does it mean when a girl looks back and forth into your eyes?

This girl that is friends with my friend (nothing more than friends!) sometimes will look me in the eye and away from my eyes... then back at my eyes a few times... when she sees me. She knows that I'm her friends friend... we've never spoken. We are friends on facebook and we follow each other on twitter too.... but why does she look me in the eyes like that?

She obviously feels awkward with you that she could not hold eye contact properly, could be that she's into you or she feels intimidated.

Probably simply because she's looking around, or listening to you talking.

Or maybe she's trying to get your attention.

she might like you and wants to stare at you in class (girl thing). but she keeps turning away because shes scared you'll see her and think shes weird.. which is probably whats happening now. my advise is to talk to her- but dont acknowledge the eye thing so shes not embarrassed.

A woman only have eye eye contact if she really like you.

She's looking to see your reaction...probably hoping that anything said won't register bad with you as friend of her friend.

Eye contact makes some people uncomfortable. So when you're talking to them they'll look into your eyes sometimes, and 'past' you sometimes. Someone told me the thing to do is to stare at the bridge of a person's nose, so it looks like your looking in their eyes.

Something else people do is look back and forth between your eyes. You notice this mostly when they're talking to someone else and looking back and forth between the other person's eyes.

But when you're not talking to someone and you look at them and find them looking back at you, that makes some people really nervous, so they look away really fast, but then come back to look at the person again. It's just nervousness. Uncertainty. If you smile at her it will make it a little better, but it might also replace nervousness with embarrassment. 8^)
