Girl help please! How do you ask someone out but leave open the option to just stay friends?

Just like the title says... I've known this girl for 2 years now and we've been great friends through Facebook/texts (since we can rarely visit), but I am transferring to a closer college and want to finally ask her out. Any suggestions?

become her friend and then ask her if she like dinner as a friend or something. ease it on until you have her in your hands and tell her if she would like to go on a date and if it dosent work out then stay friends with her tell her its like a tryout date i dono

We'll maybe you could drop by sometime and ask her if she wants to get coffe. If you are really good friends, maybe you could talk it out. Tell her your interested in being more than just friends and ask her if she is up to it. Just an idea. Hope this helps?

I would ask her out normally, but before she says anything say that you value your frienship more than anything and that you are not expecting anything but that you wanted to try having a relationship. it worked for me. no luck on the relationship front but we've become even better friends
